Summer Book Nook Club
SUMMER BOOK NOOK CLUB
This summer be a part of our Summer Book Nook Club. Let's keep you reading new books during the summer months and sharing your thoughts via email with each other. We will officially start on Monday, June 6th, so sign up early and get your parents’ permission to take a Nook for the summer.
I will hand out the Nook devices, but you may want to simply find these book titles in print at your public library. I will select new book releases each week for you to read. Just refresh your Nook after receiving an email from me.
Families are welcome to read along with us. We will communicate via email and I will share the new book titles for families to load throughout the summer.
We will briefly meet on Friday, August 26 from 2:00-2:30 to discuss our summer reading over ice cream and just get a chance to return the Nooks before school starts. Let me know if you're interested in being a part of our Summer Book Nook Club. Please note this club is limited to 20 students (grades 5-8). Incoming fifth graders are welcome to join us. Here is the link to the parent permission form.
Young Adult Collection
We are excited to be back at school! We have lots of new books, comfortable chairs, library offerings along with a new library film studio space. We invite you to come by and see what’s new! Our summer work in the library included expanding our YA (Young Adult) section, specifically designed with seventh and eighth graders in mind.
Our library contains a wide variety of reading material for everyone. We enjoy talking about and recommending books with our students. We encourage you to talk to your child about what they’re reading as well. We hope our book selection will appeal to our readers and parents.
It is CESU policy that as educators, we are expected and encouraged to provide students with a wide range of ideas, themes, and concepts, some of which may prompt debate. The presentation and discussion of these varied views may broaden the students’ exposure to such issues and provide an opportunity for the exercise of critical thinking skills.
If you do NOT want your student checking out books from the YA section, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org so we are aware of your preference. If we do not hear from you we will assume that your child has permission to select YA books.
Thank you for your support,
Joyce Babbitt, Librarian
Nicole Thompson, Library Assistant
